Kelly Temple

Kelly is originally from Jackson, Mississippi, and has spent her career in community organizing and working in the non-profit sector with a focus in developing solutions to end poverty and build equity. She currently works with United Way Worldwide and has served in the United Way system for 14 years. She is also an adjunct Professor at Georgia State University, teaching MSW students.

As a National Labor Engagement Director for 8 years at United Way Worldwide, Kelly supports the partnership with the national AFL-CIO, which represents 15 million union members across the country. In addition, she recently joined the Regional Directors team to support local United Ways in the NE & SE regions. Prior to UWW, she worked at the United Way of Greater Atlanta with the Regional Commission on Homelessness (RCOH) and then in partnership with the Atlanta-North Georgia Labor Council and their 56 local union affiliates, Atlanta Jobs with Justice, 9 to 5 Working Women, Georgia Latino Alliance for Human Rights, and more.

After obtaining her MSW with a focus in Community Partnerships at Georgia State University in 2008, Kelly worked with Grassroots Campaigns, Inc. in coordination with Obama for America. She served as one of ten national field organizers with MoveOn.org mobilizing and coordinating volunteers in more than 200 cities throughout the country. Kelly continued her organizing career with Service Employees International Union, Local 105 in Denver, Colorado, organizing with private security officers, food service workers, janitors and health care workers.
